Care Instructions

- You may feel a brief sensation of burning or discomfort during the procedure. This will resolve spontaneously.
- The entire procedure only takes about 15 minutes.
- 1-3 treatments may be needed to achieve resolution.
- Strict hygiene precautions must be taken to avoid reinfection.
- Follow up 6-8 weeks after your appointment to ensure the new nail growth is healthy.
- A topical liquid medication may be sent to a compounding pharmacy for you. This is a custom compounded antifungal medication that comes in a bottle similar to nail polish. It cost approximately $40-60 and insurance does not cover it. The pharmacy will contact you to collect payment and ship to your house. When applying the medication, dip a cotton swab into the bottle and apply to all affected nails then dispose of the cotton swab. Do not use the brush that comes in the bottle because you will contaminate the entire bottle. Apply this medication once daily.
- Open toe shoes must be worn once treatment is completed to avoid immediate reinfection.
- All shoes must be washed thoroughly with hot water and disinfectant to kill any fungus that may be remaining.
- All nail clippers must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
- Purchase disposable nail files to trim nails instead of nail clippers.
- Remember, fungi like dark/moist areas. Try to avoid these conditions to prevent reinfection.
